West Coast - Day 5
Burnie - Queenstown - Hobart
There was no Day 5 for the Monaro.
During the Natone stage (final stage of Day 4) a throttle linkage broke and jammed the throttle
wide open !.
The result was that instead of engine slowing the car down, the monaro launched forward and with
Steve hard on the brakes trying to work out what is going on, the Monaro smashed in to a banking
at 140Km/h+.
The Monaro is a tough car and luckly both Steve and Rachael walked away only with some brusing
and slight whiplash,A quick visit to the Hosphital and both were given the Okay.
The Service Crew recovered the Monaro removed and put back in its mobile "home", a quick assesment
of the damage and the Monaro was deemed repairable for the next day !! (Troy carries a lot of spares !).
Steve and Rachael were suffering a lot of neck stiffness and it was decided by Steve that Targa 04 was over.....
Troy, Lee and Marcus have taken the Monaro back to the Melbourne Performance Center workshop and it
has been completely stripped back to a shell and everything inspected, now it is under going repairs and
perhaps a few new improvments........
The Monaro will be back at Classic Adelaide !
